Yes, schools should let teachers carry guns but only if they deem it is necessary - should have safety on and/or out of site during school

Yes, if the teachers are legal US citizens, they should be allowed to carry guns anywhere

 @8PYMW62answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if the teacher is properly trained to use a gun under high pressure situations and not just self defense training as well as emotional well-being.

 @92Z8JX9 from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

This should be decided by the school in question whether to allow or deny.

 @92K69KR from Oklahoma  answered…3yrs3Y

No, hire professionally trained security guards instead of giving random teachers guns so that there will be a much more unlikely chance of any accidental shootings happening

 @92NYL55 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, schools should require at least one teacher or security guard to be armed, but they must be professionally trained

 @92HLYZHanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if the teachers volunteer and are required to receive proper training.

 @92HLYZHanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if the teachers volunteer and are required to receive proper training and a thorough background check and Psych evaluation.

 @925JCCX from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9334YP3answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, all teachers should be required to carry a gun and know how to use it.

 @93HTZPVanswered…2yrs2Y

Having a cop in school to interact with the students, but also trained and armed. This will help the students have a better relation with cops.

 @8YTM8JD from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

yes only if the teacher is properly trained with the gun and it can be locked up when needed and safe

 @92XHZPP from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, but it should not be publicly known to anyone but the school board and police as well as should have to do mandatory monthly training and should only be volunteered for

 @9439SLRanswered…2yrs2Y

 @8XH4JN8 from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should come down to the teachers option. Not required or denied by the school. They have to make sure to never talk about it with the class and keep it locked away and hidden but still accessible in emergency

 @3H2PX7Kanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if the teacher is thoroughly vetted to ensure they are mentally sound enough to handle a gun, and it is impossible for students to get to it.

  Deletedanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but require strict background checks, licensing, and severe penalties for irresponsible usage

  Deletedanswered…4yrs4Y

 @427PX6Wanswered…4yrs4Y

 @8W76TH2answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if they are trained to use a gun and also should have a background check.

  Deletedanswered…3yrs3Y

 @8VQLHQTanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, at least one security guard or teacher in a hallway. No, because it could cause more incidents and someone could take it

 @8WKTH3J from Colorado  answered…3yrs3Y

 @78S5M87 from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8GYWKM5answered…4yrs4Y

no, have at least one school resource office on staff at all times and allow teachers to keep less lethals(taser, baton, etc) with condition they can only use it if there is a immediate threat to life. the teacher would be required to be thoroughly trained with said item and would have to maintain a good psych eval

 @8J2LGT5answered…4yrs4Y

If the teachers background is good and he has his pistol permit he/she should be able to carry but put the weapon in a spot were students cannot see or touch it.

 @8JWKQ96answered…4yrs4Y

I don’t think teachers should carry guns at school because most of them probably don’t know how to actually use one and that’s not safe. I believe that we should just have a few security guards or police that are trained. But that what we pretty much have now but we only have one

 @8ML9MSDanswered…4yrs4Y

This is a really stupid question. Even with all the break ins. This kind of stuff should be for the police.

 @8MNJHTXanswered…4yrs4Y

I don’t think that they should be able to carry them but they should be able to have one just in case in danger

 @8N3FZTYanswered…4yrs4Y

I think they should be allowed to after going through training and a background check. The weapon should also be kept out of reach of students.

 @8N6WL9Yanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but they have to have many tests done to make sure they are not crazy.

 @8Z6B8TKanswered…3yrs3Y

I feel like they should be able to keep them in there car or like locked in a draw or something in case of emergency

 @8Z6HL59answered…3yrs3Y

No i feel like the teacher if he/she was not right in the head as in mentaly ill. the could go rouge and shoot a kid

 @8ZBTJXT from Iowa  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe it sounds like a good idea, but no in a teachers hand. We have policemen who would love to keep our schools safe.

 @8Q9VQGF from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @4ST2ZSSanswered…3yrs3Y

 @52P5M5Sanswered…4yrs4Y

no, it's ridiculous that a solution to mass shootings is more guns, we should focus on mental health

 @8CFL9K5 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

I don't think they should have a gun, more like something to protect everyone.

 @3SXNRFFanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, provided that they are properly trained, but I would prefer that schools hire professionally trained on-site security guards instead.

 @58RCYKKanswered…4yrs4Y

A focus should be placed on the mental health of the students when they're as young as possible to help try and prevent any gun violence.

 @8Q9MVKX from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, only because they need or be armed just in case something wrong happened they need to be ready

 @5643HNNanswered…4yrs4Y

No, eliminate zero-tolerance policies, implement anti-bullying campaigns, and increase access to counselors and mental health resources for students

 @8QNP2M5 from Maryland  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if they are professionally trained and heavily regulated. No for most teachers though. A better solution is more police and professionally trained security maybe.

 @923HP45 from South Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8F5MHGJ from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8XTPJMC from Minnesota  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YCQX6R from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

No, Instead issue one classroom to have one pepper spray pistol to incapacitate a school shooter

 @8MHFT79 from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that schools should have at least 3 armed security guards to cover more ground around the school in the case of an emergency. 1 security guard wouldn't be enough to deal with an emergency like that.

 @8DD853J from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, More guns are not the answer. They should not have to carry a gun in a place of learning we should make stronger laws to control who is able to purchase a gun.

 @8HPZRLB from Montana  answered…4yrs4Y

In that kind of situation I think no and they should just pay another person some form of trained weapons smith to be able to stay at the school during school hours in case something like that happens

 @8R3TC79 from Colorado  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only concealed carry, unless it's a security guard, in that case, allow open carry.

 @8QMGHHC from California  answered…4yrs4Y

if in an emergency yes but a kid could also know where it is and use it

 @88LK76J from Michigan  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V3VX63 from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

I dont think teachers should carry guns on them while wlaking the halls, I would rather have my teacher walk around with a taser or pepperspray than a gun. Some teachers might have a bad day and use that gun to take their nger out. If they are able to have a firearm in school they should have it locked up in thier desk with a bunch of saftey restrictions

 @8Q8X275 from Tennessee  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe this answer should be no, but every school should have like a police officer or a school resource officer.

 @8DD2TCY from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8LZWFT2answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but the need to have a lot of background check and mental test often

 @8FC9Y25 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

No, this would increase the risk of accidental shootings. Hire a well-trained security guard.

 @8HSYS3T from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R2RMP3 from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but require all guns to be kept in a safe when they are not needed.

 @8R2RMP3 from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but require teachers to store their guns in a secure container when they are not in use.
