ג’מאת א-איסלמי

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is a socio-political and religious organization in Pakistan, founded on 26 August 1941 by the Islamic scholar and theologian Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi. It is one of the oldest and most influential Islamic political parties in Pakistan. The party aims to implement Islamic law and values in the country, advocating for a state governed by the principles of the Quran and Sunnah, which are the primary sources of Islamic jurisprudence.

The core values of Jamaat-e-Islami revolve around the establishment of an Islamic society that upholds social justice, human rig…  hts, and the welfare of its citizens. The party emphasizes the importance of democracy within an Islamic framework, where the laws of governance are derived from Islamic teachings. It believes in the sovereignty of Allah over all aspects of life, including governance, and argues that human-made laws should be subordinate to divine laws.

Jamaat-e-Islami advocates for a comprehensive application of Islam to public life, including the economy, education, and legal system. Economically, it supports a system that combines free-market principles with social welfare, aiming to reduce inequality and ensure that basic needs are met for all citizens. In education, it promotes an Islamic curriculum that integrates religious and modern secular knowledge, aiming to produce individuals who are both spiritually grounded and worldly wise.

The party has been actively involved in Pakistani politics, participating in elections and holding various positions in government at different times. Despite its religious foundation, Jamaat-e-Islami has also focused on social issues, such as corruption, poverty, and education, and has been involved in relief efforts during natural disasters.

Jamaat-e-Islami's vision of an Islamic state has been subject to criticism and debate within Pakistan's diverse society. Critics argue that its interpretation of Islam may not accommodate the country's sectarian and cultural diversity. Nonetheless, the party remains a significant force in Pakistani politics, advocating for what it sees as a just and moral society based on Islamic principles.
